we live in a barn
kitchen
MY FAVORITE FEATURE – The wood countertops. Yes, they need a little tweaking and gap-filling, but I really do love the look. Over time they did shrink…we expected that. Stand at the edge of the island and you can see the curvature running up to the stovetop. But it was our wood, and it was free. Some day we may replace it, but for now, we love it. Another favorite feature is my pantry, especially my custom spice rack and the vintage coffee grinder. And I also LOVE the huge island. All of the counter space makes my kitchen perfect for food prep and for entertaining.
NOTABLE FEATURE – I can still recall the night before we had the tile installed. I just wasn’t sure that marble tile would work for a barn home, but it’s what we had, and it had a little more interest than some of the other options we considered. My husband fell in love with it when he saw it at the USO in Afghanistan, and some time later he found some through connections at the market and shipped it to the US for our “future forever home”. Well, we had it installed…no regrets!
