We Live in a Barn

MY FAVORITE FEATURE – Where do I begin? I love everything about this laundry room! I love the vintage laundry tub. Our carpenter friend (responsible for all the interior work) crafted a back cabinet to hide the plumbing and allow my vision for the laundry tub to take place. I love the counter space he mounted for folding laundry. And I love the tiny stairway (with a lockable trapdoor) that allows us access to the loft.

NOTABLE FEATURE – We purchased the black cabinet on the right as a tv cabinet while stationed in El Paso, TX at our first duty station (Fort Bliss).

FUN FACT – Actually a not so fun fact… this is the room in which I tested out filling the gaps between the boards. I had researched different methods, to include stuffing rope between the boards. Our local hardware store proposed the best solution (which we went with). We used caulk. After some time in the main living area, I fine-tuned the technique by putting the first coat of polyurethane on the boards before applying the caulk to prevent the caulk from seeping into the wood when I wiped the excess with water.
